Welcome back to “As I See It”.
I love music.
I believe that we all love music.
I believe that it is human nature to love music.
I love experiencing live music.
My first memory of going to a live concert was when I was a child. I’m not sure how old I was. I would say that it was in the late 60’s, maybe early 70’s.
My mother was friends with Dizzy Gillespie. I was even given his real surname as one of my middle names. Birks.
Diz, as my mother called him, was playing at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. I only remember one other player on the stage and that was the drummer, Max Roach. I still remember watching in amazement as he drummed so fast, I could barely see his hands.
After the show was my first time backstage. It was not to be my last time. Those are stories for another writing.
I love photographing live music.
The majority of my body of work of live music was BD.
Before Digital.
The golden olden days of film.
If you don’t know what I mean,
you can search engine it, and find out all about those days of yore.
Secured away in totes I have pictures and negatives of live shows that I have shot. Possibly secured away are photos that I shot for other people, with their cameras. One day I may try to gather some of those photos.
Here are a few images that I have shot AD.
After Digital.
And yes, that is Michael Franti.
I look forward to when it is safer to move about the global cabin, and I can shoot many more images of people living their Soul’s gift.
Making music.
Pure true bliss in action.
Till next time,
Be Well
